IIT Chemistry offers graduate programs for both working professionals and for full-time students.  The Professional Science Masters programs are available on-line and are focused in Analytical and Materials Chemistry.  The traditional, full-time graduate programs (Master of Chemistry, Master of Science, and Doctorate programs) cover all the basic chemistry divisions, with a particular focus on IIT’s strengths: biochemical and materials research.

Each new graduate student is assigned a graduate student advisor and must obtain the approval of the advisor each semester before registering for any graduate classes.

Professional Science Masters

IIT's professional science master's degrees are non-thesis degree designed for chemists working in business, industry, education, government, military and non-profit agencies. These programs are designed for chemists who wish to become more effective leaders in the workplace, and may be completed almost completely on-line.

Analytical chemistry is crucial to research and development efforts in all chemistry sub-disciplines and so well-trained analytical chemists are in high demand. A professional master’s degree in analytical chemistry will provide you with expertise in chromatography, analytical spectroscopy, and methods development.

The pace of growth in industry and technology is very closely connected to the development of newer, better, and more efficient materials. Nanomaterials, biomaterials, electronic materials, optical materials, functional organic materials, and polymers are essential in today's world. You can explore these fascinating materials, their design, synthesis, characterization, and application by earning a professional master's degree in materials chemistry.

Certificate

Professionals wishing to add expertise in a more focused area of analytical or materials chemistry can complete a certificate program. These courses can be used toward the Professional Masters degree if the student receives a B or higher, and is admitted to the Professional Masters program.
