Randomness in Commutative and Computational Algebra

Apr 3, 2017 - 1:50pm to 2:55pm

Rettaliata Engineering, Room 104

Despina Stasi, Research Professor
Illinois Institute of Technology, Applied Mathematics Department

The speaker considers two separate interactions of Probability and Algebra. First the speaker studies Erdos-Renyi-type random monomial ideals and their properties. The speaker will also briefly touch on the application of a well-known randomized algorithm to problems in Computational Algebra.
