Research & Accomplishments

Chaired scientific committees for National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements with the following publications:

  • NCRP Report 141, Managing Potentially Radioactive Scrap Metal (2001)
  • NCRP Report 175, Decision Making for Late-Phase Recovery from Nuclear or Radiological Incidents (in press, 2014).

While employed at Argonne National Laboratory (1987 - 2012); led the research team by accomplishing the following:

  • Developed computer codes (RESRAD and RISKIND) to perform risk assessment for facility decommissioning and radioactive transportation risk assessment
  • Prepared regulatory input to US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on facility decommissioning guidance, nuclear reactor and material facilities environmental analysis
  • Completed DOE missions in environmental cleanup for some major contaminated sites.
