Computational Social Systems

Eunice Santos
Ron Hochsprung Endowed Chair and Professor of Computer Science

Santos works in the area of computational social systems; especially in the areas of large-scale dynamic social networks analysis and in socio-cultural modeling. Specific research projects include:

  • design and formulation of general anytime-anywhere methodologies/schemas for dynamic networks that produce analyses of (social) networks at any point in time while also incorporating network structural changes.
  • design and formulation of a new type of network called culturally-infused social networks that can rigorously and systematically incorporate socio-cultural knowledge/information/data/theory for more realistic and complete analyses.

Santos has been able to validate the effectiveness of these approaches on real-world scenarios in epidemiology, ecology, geo-politics, health/public policy, defense and security, and others.
