Master of Chemistry in Analytical Chemistry

Illinois Tech’s Master of Analytical Chemistry is a non-thesis master’s degree designed for professionals interested in pursuing their graduate education in chemistry with a focus on the applications for business and industry, education, government, and the military. The program, under the leadership of Dr. Diep Nguyen, just celebrated its 20th anniversary honoring the program founder, Dr. Walt Eisenberg.

This online professional science master's degree provides students with a solid foundation in separation science, spectroscopy, and method development. We are also proud to announce a new partnership with the Axion Training Institute here in Chicago. In conjunction with Dr. Lee Polite, our analytical chemistry students may now take a short, one-week practical laboratory class at Axion.

The program’s 32 hours of coursework can be completed remotely in 2.5 years of part-time study, though students have the option of coming to Chicago for the practical laboratory class. The final oral exam is administered on the Mies (main) Campus in Chicago.

If your career goals do not require a full master's degree, you may be interested in completing a certificate in Analytical Methods DevelopmentAnalytical SpectroscopyChromatography, or Regulatory Science. The courses in these certificate programs are all graduate level courses belonging to the analytical chemistry professional science master's degree curriculum.
