Radiological Physics Certificate

The certificate program is intended for students who wish to refresh their knowledge of specific topics in health physics. The certificate program is also available for those who wish to take courses for Continuing Education Credit (CEC) from the American Academy of Health Physics or in preparation for the initial certification for the American Board of Radiology qualifying examination.

Program Requirements 

To earn a certificate, students must successfully complete at least 12 semester credit hours from the courses listed at the program requirements link below, earning at “C” or higher in each course with a cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0 ("B" average). However, a certificate student who subsequently applies to and is admitted to a master's degree program at IIT will only be allowed to apply approved coursework in which he/she has earned a "B" grade or higher to the master's degree program.

As of Fall 2020, the certificate program will require the following two courses:

PHYS 571  Radiation Physics (3 credit hours)

PHYS 572  Introduction to Health Physics (3 credit hours)

The remaining 6 credit hours will be taken from the list of available courses.
